Wichard Bow Shackle HR “Ω”

The Wichard Bow Shackle HR “Ω” is a forged high-resistance stainless steel shackle designed for demanding yacht and marine applications where high loads and extra internal space are required.

Manufactured from HR 17-4 PH stainless steel, it offers outstanding working and breaking loads. According to Wichard, an HR shackle can provide up to 60% greater resistance than a comparable 316L stainless steel shackle. Its wide bow shape provides ample room and allows several lines or cables to be connected.

Available in 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 14 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm and 24 mm.

High-Resistance Bow Shackle for Yacht Rigging

The Wichard Bow Shackle HR “Ω” is designed for high-load applications where strength, reliability and additional internal clearance are important.

Its forged construction and characteristic wide bow make it particularly suitable for:

Wichard specifically recommends the HR bow shackle for applications requiring high loads and ample room, with the possibility of attaching several lines or cables.

Important: Wichard states that these shackles must not be used for mooring applications.

Forged HR 17-4 PH Stainless Steel

The shackle is manufactured from HR 17-4 PH stainless steel, providing significantly higher mechanical strength than conventional stainless steel shackles.

According to Wichard, HR shackles can be up to 60% stronger than shackles manufactured from 316L stainless steel, making them an excellent choice where high strength-to-size performance is required.

Wichard specifies two different ratings:

Working Load (WL): for nautical applications
Working Load Limit (WLL): for industrial applications only.

For industrial applications, the breaking load is 5 times the WLL.
