Wichard Offshore Knife Serrated Blade & Shackle Key
€51.74 – €52.97Price range: €51.74 through €52.97
The Wichard Offshore Knife Serrated Blade & Shackle Key is a professional multifunctional sailing knife designed for demanding marine use.
It combines an 8 cm half-serrated MA5 stainless-steel blade for cutting modern ropes such as Dyneema® with a shackle key, marlin spike and bottle opener. One-hand blade opening, safety locking, Soft Grip handle and an adjustable wrist loop make it practical on deck, while its compact construction weighs only 85 g.
One compact marine tool for cutting ropes, opening shackles and working with lines.
The Wichard Offshore #10126 goes beyond a conventional sailing knife. Designed specifically for sailing and watersports, it brings together several of the tools a skipper or crew member may need on deck.
Its half-serrated blade is designed to cut modern high-performance ropes, while the integrated shackle key and marlin spike add functionality for common sailing and rigging tasks. A bottle opener is also built into the tool.
For sailors who want more functionality than the single-blade Wichard Offshore, this is the model to choose.
More Than a Sailing Knife
The Wichard Offshore #10126 combines the following key functions:
- 8 cm half-serrated blade
- Shackle key
- Marlin spike
- Bottle opener
- Adjustable wrist loop
The knife also incorporates one-hand blade opening, blade locking and a Soft Grip handle, making the entire package particularly well suited to working on deck.
Half-Serrated Blade for Modern Marine Ropes
Modern sailing ropes can be extremely strong and difficult to cut with an ordinary smooth blade.
That’s why the Wichard Offshore uses a half-serrated blade. Wichard specifically states that it is designed to easily cut modern ropes, including Dyneema®.
This makes it particularly useful for sailing applications involving sheets, lines and other modern rope constructions.
8 cm MA5 Stainless-Steel Blade
The blade measures 8 cm in length and 2 mm in thickness. It is manufactured from MA5 stainless steel, a material Wichard selected after cutting and salt-spray testing for marine use. Wichard also applies a specific treatment to the blade for enhanced corrosion resistance.
Blade length: 80 mm / 8 cm
Blade thickness: 2 mm
Steel: MA5 stainless steel
This combination of cutting performance and corrosion resistance is particularly important for equipment exposed to moisture, spray and saltwater environments.
Integrated Shackle Key
One of the biggest differences between this model and the basic Offshore knife is the integrated shackle key.
The shackle key is designed for shackles up to:
Ø 12 mm
This gives sailors a dedicated tool for working with compatible shackles without carrying a separate shackle opener.
For regular sailing, racing or cruising, this significantly increases the usefulness of the knife.
Integrated Marlin Spike
The Offshore #10126 also includes a marlin spike, a classic and highly useful sailing tool.
It can assist with appropriate ropework and line-handling tasks, making the knife much more versatile than a simple rope-cutting tool.
Wichard designed the shackle key/spike section as a separate folding component from the blade, helping reduce the risk of injury during use.
Bottle Opener
Wichard has also incorporated a bottle opener into the tool.
It’s a simple addition, but one that makes perfect sense on a multifunctional sailing knife.
After the lines are sorted, the shackles adjusted and the boat safely at anchor, this may become one of the most appreciated tools onboard.
One-Hand Blade Opening
Working on a sailing boat often means that one hand is already occupied.
For that reason, the Wichard Offshore blade is designed for single-hand opening.
The blade features an opening cut-out that makes deployment easier while holding onto the boat or managing other equipment.
Wichard specifically advises that this blade cut-out should not be used as a shackle key; the dedicated shackle key should be used instead.
Safety Locking Blade
The blade locks securely in the open position.
This is particularly important when cutting strong rope, where significantly more force may be required than when performing ordinary everyday cutting tasks.
Wichard also states that the shackle key/marlin spike component locks in the open position, providing better usability. Both can be released by pressing the back of the knife.
Soft Grip Handle
Wet hands and sea spray can make an ordinary knife difficult to control.
The Wichard Offshore therefore features a Soft Grip handle designed to provide better handling in marine conditions.
The handle is constructed from PA & PU, providing a combination of durability and comfortable handling.
Built for Extreme Temperatures
The Offshore handle is designed to withstand an exceptionally wide temperature range:
-60°C to +100°C
This reinforces the tool’s suitability for demanding marine and outdoor environments.
Adjustable Wrist Loop Included
Every Wichard Offshore #10126 is supplied with an adjustable wrist loop.
That’s a particularly useful feature onboard.
Drop an ordinary tool at home and it lands on the floor. Drop one over the side of a yacht and it’s probably gone.
The wrist loop helps keep the knife connected to the user during appropriate tasks and reduces the chance of accidentally losing it overboard.
Compact & Lightweight – Only 85 g
Despite adding a shackle key, marlin spike and bottle opener, Wichard keeps the Offshore remarkably lightweight.
Weight: 85 g
Open length: 195 mm / 19.5 cm
Closed length: 115 mm / 11.5 cm
Blade length: 80 mm / 8 cm
Blade thickness: 2 mm
At only 11.5 cm when closed, it fits easily into sailing equipment or a suitable pocket without the bulk of carrying several individual tools.
Designed Specifically for Sailing
The Wichard Offshore isn’t simply an outdoor knife with a marine-style handle.
Wichard designed the Offshore range specifically around the needs of sailors and demanding skippers, and identifies sailing and watersports as its intended applications.
It is particularly useful for:
- Sailing
- Offshore cruising
- Regattas
- Yachts and sailboats
- Skippers and crew
- Cutting marine ropes
- Dyneema® lines
- Working with shackles
- Ropework
- Rigging-related tasks
- Watersports
- Onboard tool kits
Why the Shackle Key & Spike Version?
If your only requirement is cutting rope, the standard single-blade Offshore may be sufficient.
The Wichard Offshore #10126 is the more versatile option for sailors who also regularly work with shackles and lines.
Instead of carrying a sailing knife, separate shackle key and separate marlin spike, you get the essential functions together in one compact tool.
That’s the main reason to choose this Offshore version.
Designed & Manufactured in France
The Wichard Offshore is designed and manufactured in France. Wichard states that its knives continue to be manufactured in Thiers, a French location renowned for its cutlery tradition.
